Since 2026, I am Directrice de Recherche au CNRS at the IMJ-PRG, in the équipe ACG. Before this, I had positions at Cornell, Brown, and UC Berkeley, and visiting positions at SLMath/MSRI and IMJ-PRG. My PhD was at the University of Chicago under Benson Farb.
Research Interests:
Topology, geometry, geometric group theory, dynamics...
I study dynamics of group actions and the algebraic and geometric structure of transformation groups, from many perspectives. Recent projects include the dynamics of surface homeomorphisms, studying hyperbolic groups acting on their Gromov boundaries, the classification and structure theory of Anosov and pseudo-Anosov flows on 3-manifolds, rigidity and flexibility of groups acting on surfaces and on the circle and associated invariant foliations and laminations. For a broad-audience introduction to some of my work, see this article in Quanta magazine.
My research papers and monograph are available here.
Activities :
I direct and support several activities to promote communication of mathematics research between researchers, to students, and to broader audiences.
• The Directed Reading Program network. This network provides resources, support, and best practices for
undergraduate-graduate independent study/reading programs in mathematics.
• Communicating Mathematics. A series of workshops and events surrounding communication of mathematics, most recently at the 2026 Joint Math Meetings in DC.
See the activities and outreach page for more.
